Adobe CC – UAL students can get heavy discounts for a year. offer expires on 13 August 2022. However, there are free alternatives below.

  • Audacity – Audio recording and editing are faster and more convenient than Audition.
  • Davinci Resolve – Video Editor little more advanced than Permire far better colour grading tool but a little slower I found.
  • Gimp – Free photoshop.
  • Paint.net – plugins can give it more utility
  • Krita – painting photoshop like a tool.
  • Paint tool sai – another painting option, after tweaking good with Wacom tablet
  • Figma – Free illustrator haven’t used it much but has multiplayer
  • Natron – Free After Effects haven’t used this much
  • Blender 
  • Autodesk Maya 
  • Unity
  • Unreal Engine
  • Substance painter – 3D material maker
  • iClone 7 – real time 3D animation / motioncapture
  • FlowFrames – Double your renders FPS to half render times (can create visual weirdness)
  • Quill VR – quickly sketch out a 3D reference in VR. (exsport out to your choise renderer)
  • Streamlabs OBS – live streaming/recording
  • Virtual audio cable – I use to Bodge audio output-input issues
  • Shotcut – small and fast video editor
  • Levelator – a drag and drop way for processing/levelling out the audio files
  • Share x – Capture videos and GIFs quick and conveniently for Blog (Highly recommend)
  • PureRef – Imageboard and reference software pay what you want €0 = Free (Highly recommend)
  • Instant Eyedropper – get the hex/RGB code to any pixel on the screen
  • Nividia canvas and EbSynth– machine learning toys that i didn’t need to include
  • Snap Cam – little silly but applies Snapchat filters to your webcam…. use responsibly
  • Anki – Flashcards
  • VLC media player
  • Pot player – VLC alternative I use for files with separate audio tracks.
  • Notepad++ – Better notepad found to be good for editing java
  • Process Hacker 2– Better task manager
  • WinDirStat – You need to make space for those big files? well, this tool will make it easy to find files on your drive that are taking up your precious SSD space.
  • BlueScreenView – When your rig hits the fan this is the quickest way to find out why.
